I have heard that sometimes you can find it in glycerine instead of alcohol, but that alcohol is the norm, and 9% is the lowest amount of alcohol it can contain. The 1% gentian violet solution is the one you want to use for thrush and yeast rashes in babies, not the 2% solution as it is too strong.
